- 1884 – The Southern Pacific Railroad (pictured) is incorporated in Kentucky.
- 1914 – A celebration is held in honor of the first train to arrive on the newly constructed Kansas City Southern Railway line in Hot Springs, Arkansas.[1]
- 1974 – A freight train on Canadian Pacific Railway is derailed when it hits a rock slide near Spences Bridge, British Columbia; the accident leads to the installation of ditch lights on all Canadian diesel locomotives.[2]
